MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – First Secretary of the Minsk City Committee of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Aleksei Pikus shared his views on the role of youth in the country’s upcoming five-year plan during the second session of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress on 19 December, BelTA has learned.
“The most important point to emphasize to all young people is that, in essence, almost the entire President’s Address was directed precisely at them. It has been stated more than once that the next five-year period is the five-year period of the youth. All the strategic points and initiatives voiced by the head of state must not just be heard by the youth, but reflected upon and accepted as a personal mission for the next five years. This regards areas such as tourism development, boosting economy, and demographic security. The president set tasks before the youth that they must fulfill, and he did so in a thought-provoking manner,” Aleksei Pikus said.
He pointed out that the youth are a major focus in the 2026-2030 social and economic development program. “The document features dedicated points and includes concrete tasks. Moreover, many of them were proposed by the young people themselves. Today, our country has created all the necessary conditions for them, showing them unprecedented trust. However, it is important to realize: this trust is not a privilege, but a serious responsibility,” the first secretary of the Minsk City Committee of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union noted.
Aleksei Pikus emphasized that the way the youth approach these tasks will determine the face of the country in the next 10, 15, 20 years.
