MINSK, 9 February (BelTA) – It was with great regret that the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine learned the news about the replacement of the State Flag of the Republic of Belarus at the Dnepr City Council with the symbol of Nazi collaborators and butchers of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, reads a statement posted on the website of the Belarusian diplomatic mission, BelTA has learned.
"In his letter to Mayor of Dnepr Boris Filatov Belarusian Ambassador to Ukraine Igor Sokol said that this decision of the city authorities offends the feelings of the majority of Belarusians who have utmost respect for the state symbols of the Republic of Belarus, under which the Belarusian people have built their sovereign and independent state," the embassy said.
Ambassador Igor Sokol expressed readiness to meet with Boris Filatov and persuade him to return to constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation at the level of cities and regions of Belarus and Ukraine, and to inform him about the processes taking place in the Republic of Belarus.
