Belarus’ State Control Committee to continue military inspections

MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) - The State Control Committee of Belarus intends to continue inspections of the Armed Forces units and subunits, Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov told the media following a meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held on 1 April to summarize the results of the comprehensive inspection of the Armed Forces, BelTA has learned.

Vasily Gerasimov explained that during the recent snap inspection, conducted on the instruction of the head of state, specialists from the State Control Committee paid attention to all aspects, including storage, manning, the condition of equipment, and the availability of spare parts and ammunition. “This was a very multifaceted effort,” he said.

Two plans have been prepared based on the identified shortcomings - one through the Defense Ministry and one through the State Secretariat of the Security Council. “We will continue to monitor the complete elimination of all shortcomings,” the head of the State Control Committee stressed.
He noted that when conducting inspections in the Armed Forces, the State Control Committee focuses on how budget funds are used and how state property is managed. “In the Armed Forces, there is property worth enormous sums, and every year we spend more and more budget funds on maintaining the Armed Forces. Consequently, as a directive from the president of Belarus, it was announced that the inspections should not be concluded. We have our own schedule for subsequent oversight activities. The findings will be compiled by the end of the year,” Vasily Gerasimov said.
