Belarus, Russia’s Tatarstan to develop cooperation in petrochemical industry

MINSK, 28 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan will develop cooperation in the petrochemical industry, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim.

A regular meeting of the working group on cooperation in the petrochemical industry took place at the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan. The Belarusian side was headed by Chairman of the Belneftekhim concern Ilya Ikan and the Russian side was led by Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Industry and Trade of Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko.

Representatives of Belarusian companies expressed readiness to continue cooperation with Tatarstan in the petrochemical industry and other ones. The parties discussed current and future joint projects, their approaches to key cooperation issues and the upcoming visit of the head of Tatarstan to Belarus.

In addition, on the sidelines of the Kazan Oil, Gas & Chemistry international petrochemical expo, Ilya Ikan held a working meeting with PAO Tatneft Director General Nail Maganov. The meeting focused on mutually beneficial cooperation in the petrochemical industry, exchange of expertise in production activities, implementation of investment projects and import substitution.

Trade between Belarus and Tatarstan saw a 7.6% year-on-year increase in 2024. The largest share in this trade turnover belongs to petroleum products, petrochemicals, and transport vehicles.
