Belarus, Russia to sign updated military technology cooperation program in June

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia intend to sign an updated military technology cooperation program in June, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus Roman Golovchenko on 15 May.

The official said that Belarus and Russia are nearly done amending the intergovernmental agreement, which has to authorize the interstate military technology cooperation program for the period till 2020. “Areas of work have been clarified as well as delivery figures, the organizations taking part in the implementation of specific projects. I hope we will sign this program with Russian colleagues possibly during the Army forum in Russia in June,” Roman Golovchenko said.

Belarus-Russia mutual trade in military products is estimated at $500-600 million per annum. Belarusian export to Russia accounts for two thirds of the figure. “Those are not raw materials, but sophisticated-technology products, this is why Belarus' export of these goods to Russia even exceeds Russia's export to Belarus. We are very satisfied with this work,” Roman Golovchenko noted.

The defense technology expo MILEX 2019 opened in Minsk today. The expo will last through 18 May. Most of the products on display are showcased in the sport complex Minsk Arena and the surrounding outdoor area.
