Belarus, Qatar seek to step up cooperation in law enforcement

MINSK, 18 March (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs led by Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov visited the State of Qatar, BelTA learned from the ministry.

“During the visit, the delegation met with Qatar Prime Minister – Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdul Aziz al-Thani and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior – Commander of the Internal Security Force Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Faisal al Thani. The parties discussed ways to advance the bilateral cooperation in law enforcement,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

The Belarusian delegation also attended the opening ceremony of the 13th edition of the international event for homeland security and civil defense Milipol Qatar that was running in Doha on 15-17 March.

This year, despite the pandemic-related restrictions, the expo featured the national pavilions of Brazil, France, the UK, the USA, and Germany as well as individual stands of several international corporations and over 70 companies from Qatar. The expo covered such themes as anti-terrorism, security of financial systems, ports and airports, data protection, cybersecurity, security at major events, and so on. According to the organizers, the expo drew over 6,600 people and 235 representatives of mass media.
