Belarus' Kobrin, Russia's Gusev sign twinning agreement

BREST, 25 August (BelTA) – Kobrin of Brest Oblast and the Russian city of Gusev, Kaliningrad Oblast have signed a twinning agreement, BelTA learnt from deputy head of the department for ideology, culture and youth affairs of the Kobrin District Executive Committee Polina Vasilyuk.

Representatives of Brest Oblast have recently visited Kaliningrad Oblast. The delegation was led by Chairman of the Kobrin District Executive Committee Alexander Zozulya. During the visit representatives of the Administration of the Gusev District and the Kobrin District Executive Committee signed an agreement on cooperation. The parties aim to develop long-term mutually beneficial partner relations in economic, sci-tech, cultural and educational areas.

According to Polina Vasilyuk, representatives of Kobrin and Gusev are developing a roadmap of joint projects. The parties are also discussing the date for a return visit.

Among Kobrin's twin towns are Russian Tikhoretsk, Livny and Gusev, Ukrainian Kivertsy, Kanev and Kovel District, Bulgaria's Vratsa, German Uelzen, Switzerland's Glarus. The Belarusian city also closely cooperates with Poland's Bielsk Podlaski and Miedzyrzec Podlaski. Kobrin also plans to sign a twinning agreement with Siemiatycze of Poland.
