
MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) - Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin met with Iranian Defense and Support Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh in Qingdao, China, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
The parties exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda, discussed the current state of cooperation in the military sector.
According to Viktor Khrenin, the meeting that took place on the sidelines of the meeting of defense ministers of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization clearly demonstrated the intention of Belarus and Iran to build mutually beneficial relations both in bilateral and multilateral formats.
“In the current complicated military and political environment, it is more important than ever to exercise maximum restraint. We still believe that diplomacy is the only way to save thousands of lives and such a fragile peace on Earth,” he said.
The defense minister confirmed Belarus’ interest in further expansion of cooperation with Iran and readiness for an open dialogue on all issues of interest.
