MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – A memorandum of cooperation between the People’s Republic of China, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, and the Belarusian Culture Ministry was signed in the Chinese city of Nantong during the large-scale international project Slavic Festival – Belarusian Town, BelTA learned from the press service of Belarus’ Culture Ministry.

The Slavic Festival – Belarusian Town project is an initiative developed within the framework of strategic cultural cooperation between China and Belarus. It is aimed at strengthening cultural ties between Belarusian cities and Chinese regions, promoting Slavic and Belarusian traditions, and expanding exchanges of creative groups. The project envisions the establishment of a permanent or annual large-scale exhibition (a themed town) in the Chinese cities of Nantong and Nanjing.

The multifunctional venue will combine cultural, educational, and commercial elements: performances by leading Belarusian creative ensembles, workshops in folk crafts, fairs and sales of Belarusian goods. Plans also include the creation of a Belarusian cuisine restaurant and a language learning center. The main goal is to provide Chinese audiences with a deep and comprehensive introduction to Belarus’ rich historical and cultural heritage, traditions, and contemporary art.
