Belarus, China sign agreement to build 20 social houses

MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) - Belarus and China have signed an agreement to implement the project “Construction of social housing (third phase)” in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Economy Ministry.

The agreement was signed by Belarus' Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov and Chinese Ambassador to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong.

“The agreement has formalized the arrangements reached by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Chinese President Xi Jinping during a meeting in May 2015 on technical and economic assistance for the construction of social housing in Belarus. Under the agreement, China will provide ¥222 million in gratuitous aid in in 2021 to build 20 social houses for 1,166 apartments with a total area of 66,061 m2,” the Economy Ministry noted.

All in all, the project “Construction of social housing” (three phases) provides for the construction of 58 apartment buildings for 4,452 apartments.

A total of 16 social houses for 1,432 apartments were built during the first phase of the project in 2017. Twenty-two houses for 1,854 apartments were constructed during the second phase in 2019.
