MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – A Belarus-China media center will open at the Journalism Department of Belarusian State University (BSU), Dean of the Journalism Department Olga Samusevich said at a press conference timed to the 75th anniversary of the department, BelTA has learned.
“We have signed an agreement to set up a Belarusian-Chinese media center. We are currently talking things over with investors,” Olga Samusevich said.
The media center will be used primarily for educational purposes. With the number of foreign students growing, the department needs to provide practical training for them. Thanks to the media center project, the department will have a better means to assess student's professional skills. Belarusian students will use the center as well.
Belarusian and Chinese students will be able to work in the center on various media projects about Belarus and Belarus-China relations, Deputy Dean for International Cooperation and Internalization of Education Anna Kureichik said. “When we understand that we are ready to create competitive products and show them to a larger audience, we will expand the project beyond the Journalism Department. For now, however, it will remain an educational project,” she noted.
The BSU Journalism Faculty celebrates its 75th anniversary on 1 November. The first lecture was given on this day in 1944, in one of the classrooms of the two-storey building that now hosts the BSU Rector's Office.
