MINSK,13 November (BelTA) - Belarus and Azerbaijan have identified the areas of cooperation in environmental protection for 2025-2026. The relevant program was signed by the heads of environmental ministries of the two countries, Sergei Maslyak and Mukhtar Babayev, on the sidelines of the World Climate Summit 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan on 12 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry of Belarus.
The parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation on the climate agenda, underscored the high potential and relevance of these efforts.
Belarus and Azerbaijan signed an inter-agency agreement on environmental cooperation in 2019. The program to implement the agreement covers such areas as mitigating the effects of climate change, combating invasive species, compiling geological maps, treatment of production waste (including hazardous waste), limiting the production and use of plastic, etc.
