MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has prepared a birthday gift for his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin: a painting depicting Valaam landscapes, Belarusian leader’s press secretary, Natalya Eismont, told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA reports.
As journalists have learned, Aleksandr Lukashenko did not present this gift to Vladimir Putin during the recent CIS summit in Dushanbe. Reporters assume this may suggest an imminent meeting between the two leaders.
“Our president will definitely present his gift to the Russian president personally, as they had agreed,” said Natalya Eismont. “It is a fairly large and very beautiful painting, created by renowned Belarusian artist Maslenikov under a special order. This painting depicts breathtaking landscapes of Valaam.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko also prepared a gift for the president of Tajikistan. However, no details were released.
Emomali Rahmon and Vladimir Putin celebrated their birthdays on 5 and 7 October, respectively. Aleksandr Lukashenko sent congratulatory messages to his counterparts and also congratulated them personally during telephone conversations.
