MOZYR, 6 November (BelTA) – Ahead of October Revolution Day, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to take part in the opening ceremony for the renovated bridge over the Pripyat River in Mozyr, BelTA has learned.
The head of state has previously noted on multiple occasions that Belarus has preserved the tradition of celebrating the October Revolution Day. It is customary to mark the day by presenting the people with gifts in various sectors. This year, one such gift will be the refurbished bridge in Mozyr.
The president pays close attention to the construction of roads and bridges, emphasizing their importance for logistics, the potential for regional economic development, and the comfort of both citizens and visitors to Belarus. “Every new bridge is a road to the future. Let no one doubt that we, Belarusians, are building our bridges for a peaceful future,” the head of state emphasized in August 2021 while opening a bridge in Grodno.

The grand ceremony will be attended by representatives of the road organizations involved in the bridge's construction, as well as residents of Mozyr District.
The head of state will also be briefed on the development of road construction and the progress of repairs on bridges and overpasses across the country. The state program for 2021-2025 envisages the reconstruction of 18,000 km of national and local roads, along with 24,000 linear meters (477 units) of bridge structures on them.
One of the five priorities outlined in the concept for Belarus' social and economic development program for the next five-year period is Quality Roads - New Roads to Modern Quality Standards. A key task in implementing this priority is the repair and reconstruction of 25,000 km of public roads.
The Transport and Communications Ministry, together with relevant organizations, has drafted the Roads of Belarus state program for 2026-2030.

As for the refurbished bridge in Mozyr, it was built in 1958. After decades of active use, it was in need of reconstruction. The renovation work was carried out over two years. The updated bridge is now wider (10 meters instead of seven) and features an observation deck on a new cable-stayed arch, an elevator, and unique architectural lighting.

Initially, traffic on the new bridge was scheduled to open in May 2026. However, thanks to the rapid pace of construction, it was possible to deliver this long-awaited gift to local residents and visitors of the region by 7 November 2025. Even before its opening, the bridge, with its cable-stayed arch and lighting, had already become a favorite photo spot for the people of Mozyr.
