TIANJIN, 1 September (BelTA) - The era of multipolarity has already arrived, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in the SCO Plus format, BelTA has learned.
The president remarked that at the SCO summit a lot has been said about multipolarity and the idea that “it will come tomorrow.” “No, this multipolarity is no longer just knocking at the door: it is already here. This meeting taking place in the home country of our organization shows that multipolarity has arrived,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized. “The SCO and BRICS are becoming a significant counterbalance, without undermining other organizations such as the G7, G20 and others. We do not intend to compete with these organizations, although life may compel us to. We work in the interests of our peoples.”

“They [the SCO and BRICS] are significant international organizations. We must do our utmost to avoid disappointing the people of our world and preserve the hope that nations place in our organizations, above all, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” the Belarusian leader added.
