Lukashenko sends condolences to Brazil over deadly floods

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed condolences to Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro over numerous casualties caused by the heavy rains and landslides in the city of Petropolis in the state of Rio de Janeiro, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that it was with great pain that the Belarusians learned the sad news about the death of many people. The head of state addressed words of support to the families and friends of the victims, wished a speedy recovery to those injured and fast restoration of the infrastructure destroyed by the disaster.

As BelTA reported, the Brazilian city of Petropolis was hit by heavy rains and mudslides. According to official data, the natural disaster killed about one and a half hundred people. About 200 more are reported missing.
