Lukashenko gives examples of what Belarus learns from China

MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – Belarus taps into China’s experience with pinpoint precision or in a global manner sometimes. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement in a recent interview with the China Media Group, BelTA has learned.
The reporter noted that in 2022 Belarus-China relations were elevated to all-weather and all-round strategic partnership. She also recalled Aleksandr Lukashenko’s statement that if China is strong, then Belarus will be strong. She wondered why the Belarusian leader had described relations between the two countries that way.

“We learn from you in all matters, in all fields. It is not simply a token of respect for you and for those, who will hear me. We learn from you in all matters,” the president noted. “I know your civilization very well. I know that it is an ancient civilization. In all the aspects where the planet, the world develop… If you seriously look at it, you will see the roots are in China. This is why I am convinced that we should not just take a close look at China. We should take some things and integrate into our reality.”

The head of state gave a concrete example of how Belarus borrows some practices from China. For instance, with regard to history. According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, his youngest son Nikolai is a student in China. He has been to a history museum and has brought photos from it. Nikolai Lukashenko was greatly impressed by the organization of the museum. “He showed them to me, saying: ‘Look. We need to build something like this.’ So we have begun building our own National History Museum. We will complete the construction of the museum this year and we will open it next year on the basis of the Chinese model.”

The president stressed that Belarus borrows from China’s experience in other fields as well, for instance, information technologies and artificial intelligence. “Little by little, selectively, and sometimes on a larger scale, we adopt your experience. And you, as true friends, generously share it. Although I would like China’s involvement to be higher on some matters,” he added.

Getting back to the Belarus-China agreement on all-weather and all-round strategic partnership, Aleksandr Lukashenko described it as very serious: “We see it because it is manifested in our cooperation. Primarily in the field of economy. As for politics, I hope to God that our economy, our economic and financial relations would reach the level of political ones.”

The head of state pointed out that Belarus and China have no problems and differences of opinion. “If we need to coordinate some matter, make a joint decision, support each other, then one call from Beijing to Minsk or vice versa will suffice. And we will come to terms on everything within several minutes,” he assured.

Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned that Belarus’ relations with China and Russia are the most advanced ones. He drew attention to support from Beijing, including humanitarian support. As an example the president referred to the National Football Stadium and an international-class swimming pool in Minsk. He described them as gifts to the Belarusian nation. “It also speaks volumes. China does everything for a reason and never gifts anything to anyone without a good reason. This is why we highly appreciate it and the Belarusian nation highly appreciates it,” the Belarusian leader concluded.
