Lukashenko: Belarus highly values Vatican's consistent stance against sanctions

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Belarus highly values the Vatican’s consistent and sincere position against sanctions, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he received the credentials from Apostolic Nuncio to Belarus Ignazio Ceffalia on 11 September, BelTA has learned.

“We highly appreciate the Vatican’s consistent and sincere stance against sanctions,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated. “I see significant potential for joining our efforts to promote peace in Europe and around the world.”

Speaking about relations between Belarus and the Vatican, the president emphasized that they are based on mutual respect, dialogue, and traditional values, as well as the closeness of approaches to many international issues.
The Belarusian leader assured that Belarus is ready to discuss any global or bilateral matters with the new representative of the Pontiff in the country.
