St. Petersburg governor impressed by Lukashenko's address to Belarusian people

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Saint Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov told reporters on 1 February that he was impressed by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko's recent Address to Belarusian People and the National Assembly, BelTA has learned.

“I was very impressed by the president's address. We heard and watched it. It was very sincere. It offered clear-cut answers to all questions. It called things by their real name. The address also sent a very important message about independence,” the governor said.

Alexander Beglov also gave his take on the head of state's approach to the development of Belarus: “It is evolutionary, not revolutionary. It was the evolutionary path of development, as mentioned in the address, that impressed me and my colleagues.”

A reminder, on 28 January Aleksandr Lukashenko delivered the Address to Belarusian People and the National Assembly. The speech lasted for over 2.5 hours. The president also answered questions of the attendees for about another hour. Attending the event were 2,500 people, including members of the upper and lower houses of parliament.
