Sergeyenko at CSTO PA: As long as we are together, we are indestructible

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) - The Great Victory proved an undeniable truth: as long as we are together, we are indestructible, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said at a meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA Council) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on 19 May, BelTA has learned.

“We have recently celebrated the most important event in our history - the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. This is a sacred holiday for all of us. It is our duty to pay tribute to the historic feat of the multinational Soviet people. The Great Victory proved the undeniable truth: as long as we are together, we are indestructible. It is symbolic that the military parade in Red Square in Moscow on 9 May was hosted by the presidents of our countries, and marching shoulder to shoulder there were the servicemen of the armed forces of our countries,” Igor Sergeyenko said.

A military parade was also held in Minsk on that day, in which representatives of the armed forces of Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan took part. “The participation of the armed forces of the CSTO member states in the Victory Parade symbolizes the unity of the organization,” the speaker said. “We were together then. We are together today. We must do everything to prevent a new world massacre, which could be the end of history. This what Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized in his speech to the participants of the parade in Minsk. Today we laid wreaths at the Eternal Flame on the Kyrgyz land and once again experienced a feeling of boundless respect for the true sons of our Fatherland, who showed the greatest strength of spirit, heroism and fortitude, who managed to turn the tide of world history through incredible efforts,” he said.
