MOSCOW, 25 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia have shared positions on the international arena, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov said at a joint meeting of the collegiums of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 25 November, BelTA has learned.

“This year when we mark an important historical date – the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory – I would like to particularly note the coordinated work of the diplomats of our countries to protect the historical truth,” said Maxim Ryzhenkov. “We are working together to counter the falsification of history, maintaining a unified approach to assessing events common to the Belarusian and Russian peoples.”

“I am pleased to note that Belarus and Russia cooperate very closely on the multilateral front. Currently, there are no problematic issues between our countries,” the foreign minister noted. “We certainly support each other on all key international issues, including elections to UN agencies, and we jointly advance our common interests.”

According to him, Belarus and Russia are working together to prevent international platforms from being used to discredit the two nations. “We are grateful that Russia unequivocally opposes all anti-Belarusian initiatives by the West in international forums, for example, at the ILO and the Human Rights Council. Belarus, in turn, acts similarly with regard to anti-Russian initiatives, particularly at the UN General Assembly,” noted Maxim Ryzhenkov.

He added: “We support Russia’s initiative to implement the declaration on enhancing the role of international law and the guiding principles regarding the classification of unilateral coercive measures as unlawful. We are interested in continuing close coordination to leverage the combined potential of our two countries to advance economic and humanitarian interests in the nations of the Global South, which we increasingly refer to as the global majority, making use of the potential and capabilities of flagship structures such as the SCO and BRICS.”
