Russian FM: Moscow is ready for talks with Ukraine in Minsk

MOSCOW, 25 February (BelTA) – Moscow is ready to hold talks with Ukraine in Minsk, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told a briefing of the press, BelTA has learned.

"Just an hour ago Zelensky [president of Ukraine] released another video, in which he expressed emotions and feelings about the possibility of negotiations," Maria Zakharova said. “Moscow immediately reacted to this: president's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow is ready to send an interdepartmental delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Defense Ministry and other ministries to Minsk for talks. This is something I would like to draw attention to."

She noted that it is early to talk about the specific composition of the Russian delegation now. "For our part, we are ready to form such a delegation promptly, but what is more important now is, probably, the responsible behavior of the Ukrainian side," she noted.

In this regard, Maria Zakharova cited the statement by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba who said that Ukraine is planning to go to the Hague court over the Russian special operation. “Probably, all those who now consider themselves part of the executive power of Ukraine should coordinate their approaches," she said. “We must understand what President Zelensky really means in his videos and his team should not give conflicting signals.”
