Opinion: All attempts to put pressure on Belarus are unlawful and hopeless

MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus has passed a draft resolution, which sketches out the Belarusian parliament's response to the European Parliament's resolution on Belarus, BelTA has learned.

Chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Rachkov noted: “On 26 November the European Parliament passed a resolution that criticizes Belarus. We believe that members of the Belarusian parliament cannot and must not leave this unfriendly step of the European Parliament towards Belarus without a proper response.”

Among other things the Belarusian parliament's draft resolution reads that the European Parliament's resolution on Belarus represents an unacceptable interference in domestic affairs of the sovereign and independent state. “We also express strong confidence that all attempts to put pressure on Belarus and aspirations to change our country's development vector are unlawful and hopeless,” Sergei Rachkov noted.
