Former CSTO chief: CSTO has many partners

MOSCOW, 18 August (BelTA) – The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has many partners, Nikolai Bordyuzha, Chairman of the Coordinating Council of the Eurasian Information and Analytical Consortium, former CSTO secretary general, said at a press conference in Moscow on 18 August, BelTA learned.

"I believe the Organization is highly attractive because it has developed tools not only for military cooperation but also for addressing both traditional and emerging threats faced by all our nations. These collective efforts are aimed at ensuring stability across member states. The Collective Security Treaty Organization maintains numerous partnerships. We had productive collaboration with Iranian agencies, with Chinese services on certain fronts, and conducted joint operations involving Azerbaijani security forces,” Nikolai Bordyuzha noted.

“Until recently, specifically before 2014, Ukrainian agencies participated in our counter-narcotics and information security operations. This collaboration benefited not just the CSTO as an organization but each member state directly. Together, we uncovered major drug trafficking routes, seized tonnes of narcotics, stopped cross-border mercenary movements and executed other critical operations. Many achievements went unpublicized due to the sensitive nature of this work, but the results were tangible: a measurable reduction in security threats for all participating nations.”

"Therefore, I believe that if states are interested in collective efforts to ensure stability within their own borders, they will cooperate,” Nikolai Bordyuzha said.
