Foreign ministers of Belarus, Venezuela discuss cooperation, international agenda

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov had a telephone conversation with Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela Yvan Gil Pinto on 21 May at the initiative of the Venezuelan side, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The diplomats confirmed the friendly and open nature of Belarus-Venezuela interstate dialogue. The Venezuelan foreign minister conveyed his congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“The foreign ministers exchanged views on topical issues of the international agenda and discussed key aspects of bilateral cooperation,” the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported. They agreed to use more actively such cooperation instruments as the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation and political consultations.

“The foreign ministers positively assessed the interaction of Belarus and Venezuela in international organizations, placing special emphasis on the Group of Friends in Defense of the UN Charter. The parties share the view that this group should be expanded,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
