MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – Recommendations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) regarding the protection of electoral sovereignty have been taken into account by the Concept of National Security of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA learned from Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko at a session of the Council of the House of Representatives.
Igor Sergeyenko said: “International activity was intense in the first half of December. A session of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia took place in Minsk on 6 December. At the session the heads of Belarus and Russia signed a number of significant documents in various spheres. In the sphere of security those include the Security Concept of the Union State and a bilateral interstate treaty on security guarantees. An interstate agreement on setting up the common market of electricity of the Union State of Belarus and Russia was also signed. The presidents identified a number of key avenues for further Belarusian-Russian development. They also represent guidelines for the parliament’s work.”
The speaker of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament noted that Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov took part in the conference “Union State: Integration, development, trust”, which took place in Moscow and was dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Union State Foundation Treaty. “Slightly before that, on 8-9 December our delegation was in Moscow to take part in a joint session of the CSTO PA Council and the 17th plenary session of the organization. A draft concept of migration security was adopted as well as recommendations on improving the legislation in the sphere of fight against illegal migration, recommendations on working out common principles of national legislation in the sphere of artificial intelligence and robot technology. It was matters of artificial intelligence and of deeper cooperation in information security that the president of the Republic of Belarus drew attention to at a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization in Astana,” he stressed. “I’d like to note that CSTO PA recommendations on protecting electoral sovereignty have been taken into account by the Concept of National Security of the Republic of Belarus.”
“A productive meeting with President of Russia Vladimir Putin took place in the Kremlin. Without an exaggeration the exchange of opinions underlined the growing role of interparliamentary interaction. The 67th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on 12 December was also fruitful. The Union State budget was passed. Results of the work in 2024 were summed up and plans for the next year were adopted,” Igor Sergeyenko added.
