CIS to host CIS summit in September 

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) - A meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council of will take place in Minsk on 29 September, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev told reporters, BelTA learned.

“The meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council will be held in Minsk on 29 September,” Sergei Lebedev noted.

According to him, preparations are currently underway for the meeting. “The meeting will address a significant number of financial matters, including the unified budget, funding for security structures, expenditure reports for previous years, and so forth. Additionally, as is customary, the Heads of Government Council will review the issues regarding economic cooperation. "In particular, a restricted-format session will address the CIS strategy for scientific and technological development for 2026-2035. This is a critically important matter, as you understand, because the future economic prospects of CIS countries depend directly on their scientific and technological advancement,” he emphasized.

Additionally, two key items will be discussed during the plenary session: the main avenues of CIS cooperation in forestry and the digitalization strategy for core multimodal transport corridors across CIS states. These are all highly significant matters. There will also be extensive discussions on ways of enhancing agricultural cooperation and combating animal diseases, among other topics,” Sergei Lebedev noted. 

Minsk played host to a regular meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative on 19 August. During the meeting, the permanent representatives reviewed the draft agendas for the upcoming sessions of the CIS Ministerial Council, the Heads of Government Council and the Heads of State Council due in Dushanbe and Minsk this autumn. Progress in the development of the CIS legal framework development roadmap for 2023-2025, and results of its comprehensive review were on the agenda too.
