MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko took part in a meeting of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam with heads of delegations of foreign states, BelTA has learned.
Igor Sergeyenko thanked To Lam for his personal contribution to the development and reinforcement of Belarusian-Vietnamese ties. “This is why I’d like to emphasize that your visit to the Republic of Belarus in May 2025 and the adoption of a joint statement on establishing a strategic partnership became one of the milestone events, which determine today’s high level of mutual understanding between our states and which have reaffirmed the mutual interest in cooperation,” he said.
The speaker of the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament also conveyed greetings and genuine congratulations from Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and on the Day of Independence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly noted that led by the Communist Party, Vietnam has achieved significant accomplishments that cause admiration. The economy develops exceptionally dynamically. Political stability is preserved in the country.
Igor Sergeyenko stressed that Belarus’ leadership is intent on continuing the policy aimed at reinforcing the traditional friendship and tight cooperation between the two countries, the development of trade and economic ties as the most important components of strategic partnership relations.
Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko went to Vietnam upon instructions of the Belarus president in order to participate the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Independence Day. The Belarusian delegation includes representatives of the heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ, the tire manufacturer Belshina, and the tractor manufacturer MTZ.
As part of the economic component of the visit’s itinerary members of the delegation are expected to meet with top officials of Lao Cai Province, participate in a ceremony of handing over a batch of BelAZ haul trucks and in a ceremony of signing bilateral documents on sales of Belarusian and Vietnamese products. A license agreement on setting up a joint venture to assemble tractors in Vietnam will also take place in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Independence Day on 2 September with a solemn military parade and a theatrical procession in Ba Dinh Square where President Ho Chi Minh declared the country’s independence in 1945.
