MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lukashevich and Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Theresa Lazaro held the first round of political consultations in Manila on 28 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the parties discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations, reviewed the development of institutional mechanisms for interaction in trade and economy and agreed to promote the development of the legal framework as much as possible.
The parties initialed a draft intergovernmental agreement on visa exemptions for holders of diplomatic and service passports. "The document will be signed during bilateral meetings scheduled this year," the press service explained.
The parties exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing regular contacts in international organizations.
The Belarusian first deputy minister of foreign affairs met with the president of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss ways of establishing contacts between the business communities of the two countries. A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Belarus and the Philippines.
The head of the Belarusian delegation also met with the leadership of the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of Transport of the Philippines.
