MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) - Belarus is sincerely happy for friendly Cuba and the brotherly Cuban people, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA when asked to comment on the U.S. administration’s decision to remove Cuba from the state sponsors of terrorism list on 15 January where the country was put in 2021.
“Belarus consistently and strongly condemned, including in the United Nations, the unfair and unjustified U.S. designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism. From the very beginning, the absurdity of this step was obvious for the whole world,” the press service said.
The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that the recent decision by the White House will be final and irrevocable, and that sensible people in the new U.S. administration will realize the futility of such sanctions.
“We are in favor of a complete termination of the U.S. embargo against Cuba and the removal of all unilateral restrictive measures imposed against other states,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
