Belarus’ MFA condemns desecration of monuments to Soviet soldiers in Estonia

MINSK, 3 April (BelTA) - Another inhumane act of desecration of the monuments to World War II soldiers-liberators has occurred in Estonia, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

"Preserving the memory of heroes of the past is not only a tribute of respect but also the foundation for building the future. Respect for history is a sign of strong spirit and maturity of society," the ministry stressed.

"It begs a question: where would these Estonian politicians have been now and under what flag would they have stood, if it had not been for the heroic deeds of the people whose monuments they thoughtlessly and disgracefully demolish? And what future are they leading their country into?" the Belarusian MFA asked.

According to RIA Novosti, employees of the Estonian War Museum destroyed monuments at the Tallinn Military Cemetery that commemorate Red Army soldiers who liberated Estonia from Nazi occupation.
