Belarus, Maldives agree to substantially step up cooperation

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – Belarusian First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lukashevich met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives Mohamed Wisham on 3 February, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

Sergey Lukashevich welcomed Mohamed Wisham’s visit to Belarus. It was the first event of this caliber in the bilateral relations.

The parties mentioned the importance of substantially intensifying cooperation in such promising areas as deliveries of Belarusian food, equipment, machines, and vehicles as well as in tourism, healthcare, and education.

An agreement was reached on coordinating the positions of the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries and taking further joint steps aimed at advancing the political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, and the legal framework.
