MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – The introduction of industrial robots will be stimulated in Belarus. Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar made the statement as he delivered a report during the panel session on reasons and ways to address complications in the development of the robotics industry in Belarus as part of the forum “Technological sovereignty: IT resource for industry”, the Economy Ministry press service told BelTA.
The minister noted that robotization is one of the main factors in increasing the technological sophistication of the economy in the new five-year period. In his words, this task is being accomplished in two directions simultaneously. The first direction is to stimulate the introduction of industrial robots. “To this end the relevant indicators have been included in sectoral and regional programs for the five-year period. Regulators and oblast administrations have been instructed to prepare action plans for the introduction of robots by 1 March 2026,” said Yuri Chebotar.
The head of the ministry also said that a comprehensive program is currently being developed, as part of which a number of tasks need to be accomplished. In the scientific and innovation sphere it is necessary to formulate tasks for scientific and technical programs and state programs on scientific research in robotics. In standardization and certification it is necessary to develop standards in the field of robotics and simplify the procedures for certification and declaration of conformity for imported robotic equipment. In the personnel sphere it is necessary to create a continuous vertical education system (school, college/university, manufacturing sector).
The second direction is the development of domestic robot production and their engineering. “We are now developing competencies for the production of precision gearboxes, servo drives, microelectronics, and other components needed to create the domestic robot. Practice has shown that hardware accounts for 20-30% of the cost of a robotic system. The main thing is software and the knowledge of how to integrate a robot into the technological process. In other words, engineering. And Belarus has these competencies. We propose to continue developing them on the basis of the Hi-Tech Park. And in the future it may be possible to develop domestic production of components later on,” explained Yuri Chebotar.
The minister also recalled the existing incentives for those enterprises that develop or implement robot technologies into their manufacturing processes.
