Opinion: Law on self-regulated organizations will contribute to government-business dialogue

MINSK, 4 February (BelTA) - The adoption of the law on self-regulated organizations will contribute to the dialogue between the government and business, Tatiana Bykova, the director of the National Foundation for Business Promotion, said during a roundtable "The state is a partner: Strengthening dialogue and mutual trust" in Minsk on 3 February, BelTA has learned.

“We strive for dialogue, cooperation between different branches of government (executive, legislative) and business. In any country this interaction is carried out through representative institutions - business unions and associations that defend the interests of business. We have the Business Development Council, which accumulates the positions of business, we have a lot of discussion platforms. But the content of this dialogue is as important. We need to involve the business community in the efforts to create favorable conditions for business," Tatiana Bykova said.

Belarus is gearing up to adopt the law on self-regulated organizations. It aims to create the legal framework for the launch of self-regulation mechanisms for business and professional activities in the country. The key idea of the self-regulation mechanism is to distribute the functions of monitoring and supervision and responsibility. “We have high hopes for this law, because it will help translate the government-business dialogue into practice. It will allow us to discuss the conditions of work in certain market segments, for example, insurance market, banking sector, industrial production, transport, auditing. Professional associations are very important here. I think this is the right path,” she noted.
