Minister: New business projects will rely on R&D solutions

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – R&D solutions should become the core of new business projects, Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov said as he visited the Physical-Technical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

Together with representatives of the Industry Ministry, the participants of the meeting discussed the incorporation of research outcomes into production. Director of the Physical-Technical Institute Vitaly Zalessky spoke about the capacities of the institute and barriers that hinder the commercialization of research outcomes.

A proposal was put forward to consider the establishment of a technology transfer center at the institute to provide engineering support for incorporation of research outputs into production at metalworking and foundry companies.

The economy minister emphasized that new business projects should rely on advanced R&D solutions. “By creating a technology transfer center at the institute, we are thereby creating infrastructure for the smooth transformation of research outcomes into business ideas and investment projects. This will become an important tool for the interaction between science and business, a system for generating new initiatives in practice. On the one hand, we have built competencies and scientific infrastructure. On the other hand, the center will take on the consulting function while transforming research outcomes into business ideas and investment projects, and will offer guidelines on how to implement it technologically,” said Aleksandr Chervyakov.
