Eurasian Economic Union approves approaches to food quality control

MOSCOW, 4 December (BelTA) – The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) have approved the fundamental approaches to food quality control, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich told the media after the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on 4 December, BelTA has learned.

“Of course, we had heated debates on this issue,” Mikhail Myasnikovich “Now we are fine-tuning the technical regulation on the control of residues of antibiotics and other veterinary drugs in raw materials, i.e. in unprocessed animal products (everything has been harmonized, no pending issues here) and in finished products, which we see on store shelves. In this regard, too, the general plan of action has been approved.”

Mikhail Myasnikovich lauded the working group on food quality, which was set up following the previous meeting of the Eurasian intergovernmental Council in Minsk in July, for serious work. “For us this is a very responsible area of work because we need to reconcile the positions of the parties. For the time being they are not identical. But I think the Eurasian Economic Commission will find ways to resolve these issues,” Mikhail Myasnikovich noted.
