MOSCOW, 13 November (BelTA) – The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission has released a statement in favor of lifting restrictions on the shipment of Belarusian milk to Russia. The commission recommends that Russia should remove this trade barrier on the home market of the Eurasian Economic Union, the commission's press service told BelTA.
According to the source, Russia restricts milk deliveries from Belarus due to the native content of nitrates in milk. This is why the Russian government has been suggested it should take measures to fulfill paragraph 2, article 53 of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty. The paragraph reads that goods, which are compliant with the union's technical regulations, can be traded without facing additional requirements and compliance verification procedures. The provision applies to drinking milk, too.
