MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – The last year was quite successful, key performance targets have been hit, BelTA learned from Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar before a summarizing session of the ministry’s board.
Yuri Chebotar said: “Last year ended quite successfully for us. The gross domestic product growth rate totaled 103.9%. It was above the target. Real earnings of the population went up. Salaries rose by 11% and real pensions by 11% as well. In 2023 we set out to accomplish an ambitious investment growth task. This indicator reached 115% partially thanks to the efforts poured into many initiatives of our ministry. Spending on infrastructure and housing construction also grew substantially last year.”
In his words, these figures have been secured thanks to smooth work of the central government, other government agencies, including the Economy Ministry. “We monitored the realization of the country’s three main programs on a weekly basis: the investment program, the manufacturing program, and the export program. It allowed taking measures in a timely manner,” Yuri Chebotar noted.
