Belarusian Bellegprom's exports up by almost 20% in 2021

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) - In 2021 the companies affiliated with the Belarusian state light industry concern Bellegprom increased the export by almost 20%, Bellegprom's press service told BelTA following the board meeting.

"Bellegprom's exports amounted to $462.4 million, or up by 19.8% year-on-year. The concern made shipments to 53 countries. We registered the growth in exports to 33 countries, for example to Russia (114.9%), Ukraine (114.6%), Lithuania (142.9%), Kazakhstan (117.2%), Estonia (141.3%), Poland (132.5%), Turkey (343.8%), the USA (179%), and Italy (303.2%)," the press service noted.

Last year Bellegprom's companies manufactured goods worth almost $1.75 billion, or up by 9% year-on-year.

Return on sales stood at 7.3% (above the target of 6%), energy consumption - minus 4.4% (the target as minus 4.2%).

Revenue from the sale of goods exceeded Br2 billion (up by 19.5% over 2020). "Our enterprises reported Br202.6 million in profit from the sale of products, which was up by 11.9% as against 2020. The net profit was Br98.3 million (1.8 times higher than in 2020). The number of loss-making companies reduced by 35.3%. The average monthly salary was Br976.9," said Tatyana Lugina, chairwoman of Bellegprom.

Last year, Bellegprom's companies utilized almost Br92.9 million in capital investments, which, in comparable conditions, accounted for 45.4% over 2020. Almost Br73.4 million was allocated for the purchase of equipment, more than Br17.3 million for construction and installation works, which accounted for 79% and 18.6% of investments, respectively.

Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Nazarov urged to keep focus on new markets and export promotion.

"The textile industry is represented by a number of largest Belarusian producers such as Orsha Linen Mill, Baranovichi Cotton Association, Kamvol, Vitebsk Carpets, Mogotex. Taking into account the market trends it is important to draw up development strategies for the textile companies. In March, we will review their performance and set plans for the future," Yuri Nazarov noted.
