MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) - The economic block of questions in the legislative activity is among the priority issues for Belarusian MPs today, Chairman of the Standing Committee on State Building, Local Self-Government and Regulations Valentin Semenyako told the media ahead of the meeting of the Council of the House of Representatives on 31 March, BelTA has learned.

“Currently there are 25 bills under consideration in the House of Representatives. 18 of them will be included in the approximate schedule. Eleven are ready for consideration, the work on the rest is underway,” said Valentin Semenyako.

He named the bills on the priority agenda, the ones that are crucial for a prompt response to today's challenges. These are acts on preventing the glorification of Nazism, combating extremism, and a number of acts to improve internal and external security of the country.

“The economic block includes amendments to the law on investment, which will make the investment climate in the country more attractive. It provides protection of investments from certain factors, resolving conflicts between investors and the Republic of Belarus, and a number of compensatory measures associated with financial risks,” Valentin Semenyako said.

According to him, changes to the law on road traffic will help “make the life of motorists more comfortable”. Today MPs also pay much attention to the Education Code, with a number of complex measures in the pipeline. Parliamentary hearings on the issue are scheduled for June.

In the coming months, we will also be receiving draft documents updating the Banking Code, legislation on the securities market, on state registration and liquidation of business entities, licensing, and economic insolvency. These documents are very important and should improve economic potential of business environment.
