Belarus’ grain harvest over 9m tonnes in 2024


MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) - As of 2 October Belarus harvested 9.085 million tonnes of grain crops and rapeseed, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.

On 1 October, the Agriculture and Food Ministry hosted a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko and attended by senior officials of the agricultural ministry, employees of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and research centers to discuss problems in crop production and animal husbandry, to find ways to solve them.

During the meeting, the deputy prime minister set a number of important tasks, namely to survey agricultural crops in all regions, taking into account the current weather, and to draw up recommendations to agricultural producers on ways to reduce the impact of negative factors (low level of moisture in the soil), monitor the progress of the autumn planting campaign and the availability of equipment and compliance with the technology in cattle breeding.

During the meeting, Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Linevich asked the research centers to assist in developing proposals to solve problematic issues of the industry and bring the sector to a new technological level. The minister indicated that the ministry will hold such meetings with the research centers on a weekly basis.
