Belarus eager to raise export of civil engineering services to $700m in 2022

MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – Belarus intends to raise the export of civil engineering services up to $700 million in 2022, BelTA learned from Belarusian Architecture and Construction Minister Ruslan Parkhamovich. According to the minister, it is important to provide every civil engineering worker with work and decent salaries.

Ruslan Parkhamovich said: “In 2022 our task is to preserve and gradually increase the construction pace that was reached last year. We intend to increase the production rate of civil engineering companies and the workload of these enterprises. We understand that keeping the enterprises operating at full capacity will have a positive impact on salaries of workers, on taxes, and the overall wellbeing. We will primarily endeavor to provide work to every construction worker. $700 million is a goal we have to reach this year as far as export of services is concerned.”

The official added that they intend to expand the geography of construction services this year. The export of services will not be limited to the Russian Federation.

Ruslan Parkhamovich said: “The civil engineering industry has certain peculiarities, including with the provision of civil engineering services. The geography of shipment of construction materials is limited by distance. It is simply unprofitable to ship construction materials farther than 1,500-2,000km. Belarusian civil engineering specialists are now having certain problems with border crossing. The geography of export of our goods and services was vast last year. Belarusian construction goods were sold in Lithuania, Latvia, and Poland despite certain efforts to restrain Belarusian export. Ukraine bought crushed dolomite, tiles, sheet glass, and other goods. Every country bordering on Belarus uses services of our civil engineering industry.”
