Belarus- Cuba cooperation viewed as effective

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) - Belarus and Cuba are building up effective cooperation in all areas, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez in Minsk on 30 November, BelTA has learned.

"In my opinion, our relations are developing fruitfully in all areas, including politics and economy. Although much has been achieved, more is still to be done. I hope that you have already settled in our country and have explored the ways and areas for further cooperation, which are predetermined historically. But there are also completely new areas - science, education, cultural and humanitarian matters. This is what we are focused on," Natalya Kochanova said.

The speaker expressed gratitude that the Cuban vaccine against COVID-19 is available to Belarusians today.

"Of course, interaction in the parliamentary dimension is very important for us. A friendship group has been set up at the National Assembly of Belarus. We hope that the upcoming visit of the president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, during which we are set to sign a memorandum of cooperation, will give a new impetus to our cooperation," the chairperson of the Council of the Republic said. “The work of our government and MPs to promote cooperation with Cuba is most commendable. But, as we know, there is no limit to perfection. We will continue to promote our cooperation. The Council of the Republic is always open to cooperation with our Cuban partners for the benefit of our countries and peoples."
