Belarus’ car sales market surpasses 150,000 vehicles in 2025

MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) - The passenger car sales market in Belarus has exceeded the mark of 150,000 vehicles in 2025, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Automobile Association (BAA).

“As of 1 December 2025, the passenger car sales market in Belarus has surpassed 150,000 vehicles, including both locally produced and imported ones. A significant portion of this fleet is now comprised of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) – their number reached 27,600 over 11 months, accounting for 18.4% of the total market,” the BAA said.

New Energy Vehicle (NEV) is a general term encompassing electric vehicles and hybrids. This market in the country is almost entirely (95%) formed by imported vehicles. Fully electric models are leading the segment (20,400 units, or 74% of the NEV segment).

Within the structure of electric vehicle deliveries, 70.5% are imported by legal entities. Imports by individuals account for 5,000 units, while local production accounts for 1,000 units.

In 2025, the main route for legal entities to import NEVs was through a simplified certification process leading to a compliance certificate. For instance, 92% of all pure electric vehicles were certified through this process.

“However, the situation may change in 2026. Regulation No. 372 of the Council of Ministers could significantly impact the volume of ‘green’ vehicle imports by legal entities by modifying the current simplified procedures,” the BAA said.
