Throwing events in Brest welcome athletes from four countries

BREST, 28 April (BelTA) – Brest is hosting an international tournament in throwing events, BelTA learnt from the Office of the National Olympic Committee in Brest Oblast.

The two-day competitions in hammer, discus, javelin throwing and shot-putting will be held at the Brest Sport Center. Partaking in the events will be more than 200 athletes from Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, and Moldova. Competing for medals will be Belarus' best athletes, medal winners of international competitions. Thus, performing in Brest will be well-known hammer thrower Oksana Menkova and her young teammate Anna Malyshchik, shot-putters Pavel Lyzhin and Yulia Leontyuk, javelin thrower Tatyana Kholodovich.

The competitions will be held in three age groups. Experienced athletes will complete together with juniors born in 1997, 1998 and 1999.

The tournament in Brest commemorating Yevgeny Shukevich will take place for its 32nd time on the initiative of the students of the USSR Honored Coach.

The event is organized by the Belarusian Athletics Federation, the NOC Office in Brest Oblast, the sport and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, Pushkin Brest State University.
