MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – Aleksandra Sasnovich of Belarus lost her first game of the French Open to Cagla Buyukakcay of Turkey 7-5, 6-7, 2-6, BelTA has learned.
The game was delayed several times due to rain.
World number five Victoria Azarenka of Belarus will face World No.75 Karin Knapp of Italy in the Roland Garros opener. Victoria Azarenka will make her 10th appearance in Paris. Her best achievement so far has been the semifinal in 2013 where she lost to Maria Sharapova. In the last season the Belarusian completed her performance in the third round, losing to world number one Serena Williams. This time Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams may face each other in the quarterfinal.
Olga Govortsova (104th in the world) will start her campaign against World No.51 Monica Puig of Puerto Rico.
