Gagarin Cup winner joins HC Dinamo Minsk

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – Denis Osipov, a Gagarin Cup winner with Metallurg Magnitogorsk, joined HC Dinamo Minsk, BelTA learned from the press service of the Minsk club.

Denis Osipov signed the first contract in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg. Then he moved to Vladivostok to spend two years and a half in HC Admiral. During the 2015/2016 KHL season, the defender was invited to join Metallurg and helped the new club win the Gagarin Cup.

He signed with HC Lokomotiv in summer 2016 to make it to the play-offs from the fourth place in the conference. Denis Osipov faced Dinamo Minsk in the first round of playoffs with Lokomotiv.

The defender started the 2017/2018 season in the Lokomotiv roster but canceled the contract in early November by mutual agreement. Denis Osipov has made 282 appearances in KHL games with 51 (17+34) points and +18 plus/minus statistic.

“The regular KHL championship is entering the final stage. The fight for playoffs has become even fiercer. In terms of point percentage, six teams vying for 5-8 places are in a five-point interval. In this regard, Dinamo Minsk managers and the coaching staff decided to sign an experienced player from the Union State, a good sniper who can increase the competition among defenders,” the press service noted.

With 50 points after 36 games, the Bisons place tenth in the West. Dinamo Minsk will next play against Salavat Yulayev in Ufa on 2 December.
