MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – HC Dinamo Minsk celebrated a 2-1 victory over Lokomotiv Yaroslavl at the start of their KHL regular road trip on 18 September, BelTA has learned.
Despite Bisons' unconfident start in the 2018-19 KHL season and Lokomotiv's impressive form, the Belarusians managed to snap Loko's five-game winning streak and post a second victory in three games.
Brandon Kozun put Lokomotiv in front midway through the first period, converting a 5-on-3 power play. Dinamo's new signing Denis Kazionov made an instant impact when he tied the scores after the intermission.
The winner came in the 28th minute of the game when Patrick Wiercioch fired a shot through traffic to beat Loko's goalie. Lokomotiv piled on the pressure afterwards, but Mikhail Karnaukhov stood strong for Dinamo to secure a valuable win for the visitors.
The Bisons will continue their road trip with a stop in Cherepovets to play Severstal on 20 September.
