Belarusian judoka wins gold at European Open in Prague

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – Belarusian judoka Marina Slutskaya won gold in the +78kg weight category at the international tournament European Open in Prague, BelTA has learned.

On her way to the podium she defeated Poland's Wiktoria Lis and Ukraine's Vasilina Kirichenko. In the semifinal Marina Slutskaya saw off with Group B winner Mercedesz Szigetvari of Hungary in one minute 17 seconds.

The Belarusian stayed calm and collected to beat Brazilian judoka Beatriz Souza in two minutes 15 seconds in the final.

Darya Skrypnik of Belarus claimed silver in the -52kg weight category, losing to Jessica Pereira of Brazil in the final.

Nikita Svirid of Belarus (-100kg) collected bronze in the European Open leg in Katowice, Poland. Vladislav Terpitsky took bronze in the +100kg event.
