MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – Belarus celebrated a 3-2 (23-25, 25-27, 25-20, 26-24, 15-12) win over the Netherlands at the 2018 CEV U20 Men's Volleyball European Championship, BelTA has learned.
Belarus lost two first sets to the rival but fought back in the next three to secure an overall win. Vladislav Davyskiba was named the top scorer for the winning team with 21 points.
In Group I Belarus defeated Germany 3-0, Portugal 3-0 and the Netherlands 3-2. Belarus' defeats to Finland 0-3 and the Czech Republic 0-3 closed the door for the team to the semifinal. Belarus will compete for the 5th-8th places.
The Group I semifinal will see the Czech Republic vs the Netherlands, while Russia will take on Belgium in the Group II semifinal.
Belarus ranked 11th at the Men's Junior European Volleyball Championship in 2016.
